1. Our commitment

Lemonade has a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sexualization of minors, and any attempt to exploit or endanger children.

We are committed to complying with applicable child-safety laws and with platform policies that require published standards and a reachable contact for CSAE / CSAM matters (including Google Play’s child safety standards policy for social apps).

2. Scope of the App

Lemonade is a client application for the Lemmy federated social network. Lemonade does not operate Lemmy servers or host user posts, comments, media, or private messages. Content is created and stored on third-party Lemmy instances that users choose to connect to.

Instance administrators and moderators are primarily responsible for content moderation on their servers. Lemonade still provides user-facing tools (such as report and block) and will act on reports we receive about child-safety concerns related to use of the App, as described below.

3. Prohibited content & conduct

The following are strictly prohibited when using Lemonade:

  • Creating, uploading, sharing, requesting, soliciting, or linking to CSAM or any sexual content involving minors (anyone under 18).
  • Grooming, sexual exploitation, trafficking, or any attempt to harm or endanger a child.
  • Using private messages or public posts to seek sexual contact with a minor, or to share sexual material with or about a minor.
  • Any other activity that constitutes CSAE under applicable law.

Violations may result in reports to instance administrators, app-store or platform enforcement, and/or reports to competent authorities, as required or appropriate.

4. Age requirements

Lemonade is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum digital consent age in the user’s country, if higher). Users must meet the age requirements in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We do not knowingly design the App for under-13 use.

5. In-app safety tools

Depending on account status and instance support, Lemonade provides:

  • Report for comments and similar content via the connected Lemmy instance’s reporting APIs, so moderators can review the material.
  • Block for users, communities, or instances (where available) to reduce unwanted contact or content.
  • Access to instance rules and moderation processes on the user’s chosen Lemmy server.

These tools help users surface harmful content to moderators. They do not replace law-enforcement reporting for criminal activity.

6. How to report CSAE / CSAM concerns

In the App (preferred for content on Lemmy):

  1. Open the post, comment, or profile at issue.
  2. Use the available Report action and describe the concern clearly (include that it may involve a minor or CSAM when applicable).
  3. Where available, also Block the user or community to limit further exposure.

To the App developer (for CSAE / CSAM safety standards and App-related concerns):

Email nguyenchin0077@gmail.com with the subject line “Child safety / CSAE report” when possible. Include:

  • Description of the concern
  • Instance URL, community, username, post/comment link or ID if known
  • Approximate date/time and screenshots if available
  • Your contact email for follow-up

Do not attach or redistribute CSAM in email. Describe the material and location so it can be reviewed through lawful channels.

Authorities: If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. You may also report CSAM to national hotlines or portals such as NCMEC CyberTipline (United States) or equivalent services in your country.

7. How we respond

When we receive a credible CSAE / CSAM-related report about use of Lemonade, we will:

  • Review the report promptly and, where feasible, acknowledge receipt.
  • Take reasonable steps available to a client app developer (for example, guidance on instance reporting/blocking, and escalating to instance operators when we have a path to do so).
  • Preserve relevant non-CSAM report details as needed for investigation and legal compliance.
  • Report to competent authorities when required by law or when we determine a report is warranted.

Because Lemonade does not host Lemmy content, removal of material on an instance is typically controlled by that instance’s operators. We still treat child-safety reports as a priority for developer response and cooperation.

8. Law enforcement & legal compliance

We aim to comply with applicable laws related to child sexual abuse material and child exploitation, including reporting obligations where they apply to us. We will cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement and child-protection organizations regarding CSAE / CSAM matters involving the App, subject to applicable law.

10. Changes

We may update these standards from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. The current version will remain publicly available at this URL.
