1. Who we are
Lemonade is a mobile application that lets you browse and interact
with Lemmy — a federated, open-source social network. Lemonade does
not operate Lemmy instances. You choose which
instance(s) to connect to (for example, a default such as
lemmy.zip or any other compatible instance URL you
enter).
Operator contact: nguyenchin0077@gmail.com
2. Summary
- Account login happens on your chosen Lemmy instance. We do not run a separate Lemonade user database for social content.
- Session data is stored on your device (JWT tokens, instance URL, username, multi-account list, and app preferences).
- Advertising may be shown via Google AdMob unless you remove ads or disable ads in settings where available.
- In-app purchases (remove-ads subscriptions / lifetime unlock) are processed by Google Play / App Store and may be validated through RevenueCat.
- Optional feedback you submit may include your message plus basic context (e.g. username and instance host).
3. Information we handle
3.1 Information you provide
- Lemmy credentials & account details. When you log in, you enter a username/email and password (or other auth method supported by the instance). These credentials are sent to the Lemmy instance you select. Lemonade stores the returned session token (JWT) and related profile fields (e.g. username, person ID, avatar URL, instance URL) locally so you can stay signed in and switch accounts.
- Content you create. Posts, comments, messages, votes, community subscriptions, blocks, profile edits, and media you upload are sent to the Lemmy instance API. That content is governed by the instance’s own policies and the broader fediverse, not solely by this App.
- Feedback. If you use the in-app feedback form, your message may be sent to our feedback collection endpoint (currently a Google Form) and may include optional context such as your Lemmy username and instance host.
3.2 Information stored on your device
Examples of data kept in on-device storage (e.g. SharedPreferences):
- JWT / session tokens for one or more saved accounts
- Instance base URLs and active account selection
- Username, person ID, avatar reference
- App preferences (e.g. sort defaults, ads enabled/disabled, remove-ads entitlement flags)
Uninstalling the App or clearing app data removes this local storage on that device.
3.3 Information collected automatically by third parties
- Advertising (Google Mobile Ads / AdMob). When ads are enabled, Google and its partners may collect device and advertising identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, app interaction and diagnostic data, and similar signals used to serve, measure, and personalize ads (subject to your device settings and applicable law).
- Purchases (Google Play Billing / App Store / RevenueCat). If you buy a remove-ads product, the store and RevenueCat may process purchase tokens, product identifiers, entitlement status, and limited device/app identifiers needed to validate purchases and restore entitlements. We do not receive your full payment card number.
- Network traffic to Lemmy instances. Your device communicates directly with the instance APIs you use. Those servers (and any servers they federate with) may log IP addresses, user agents, and content according to their own practices.
3.4 Information we do not intentionally collect
Lemonade is not designed to operate a central Lemonade cloud account that stores your feed, private messages, or password on our own servers. We do not sell your personal information.
4. How we use information
- Provide core client features (feed, posts, comments, search, profile, communities, chat/notifications as supported).
- Keep you signed in and support multi-account switching on-device.
- Show advertising and measure ad performance, unless ads are removed or disabled.
- Process and restore remove-ads purchases and related entitlements.
- Receive and review optional product feedback.
- Maintain security, debug issues, and improve the App.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
5. Third-party services
The App relies on third parties that have their own privacy policies. Please review them:
- Lemmy instances you choose — each instance operator controls its own data practices. Content may also be federated to other servers in the network.
- Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads — Google Privacy Policy and AdMob help.
- Google Play / Apple App Store — purchase and account handling by the respective store.
- RevenueCat — RevenueCat Privacy Policy (subscription / entitlement validation).
- Google Forms (if used for feedback) — Google Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Hosting (this legal website) — Firebase Privacy & Security.
Links open third-party sites or content hosted on Lemmy instances. We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices.
6. Storage, security & retention
- Local storage. Session tokens and preferences remain on your device until you log out, remove an account, clear app data, or uninstall.
- Security. We use industry-standard transport security (HTTPS) when talking to Lemmy APIs and third-party SDKs. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. Protect your device lock screen and Lemmy passwords.
- Retention on instances. Content and account data on Lemmy servers are retained according to each instance’s policies. Deleting content or accounts must be done through the instance tools/APIs where available; uninstalling Lemonade alone does not delete remote content.
- Feedback & purchase records. Feedback may be retained as long as needed to review product issues. Purchase records may be retained by the store and RevenueCat as required for accounting, fraud prevention, and entitlement restoration.
7. Your choices & rights
- Log out / remove accounts in the App to clear local session data for those accounts.
- Ads. You may purchase remove-ads, use in-app controls where available, or adjust device advertising settings (e.g. limit ad tracking / delete advertising ID) according to your OS.
- Subscriptions. Manage or cancel auto-renewing subscriptions in Google Play or the App Store account settings.
- Instance privacy requests. For data held by a Lemmy instance (profile, posts, messages), contact that instance’s administrators or use instance tools.
- Contact us at nguyenchin0077@gmail.com for privacy questions about the App itself. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing, or to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
8. Children
Lemonade is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete local App-related data we control.
9. International users
You may access instances and services located in other countries. When you use Lemonade, information may be processed in the country where your device is located, where the Lemmy instance is hosted, and where third-party providers (e.g. Google, RevenueCat) operate.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy. Material changes may also be highlighted in the App store listing or in-app notice when practical.
